Passion For Fashion

Passion For Fashion is a project that I have completed for my class at OCVTS. It follows the guidelines for the National FCCLA competition and includes a garment for a 12-inch barbie doll, a fully rendered front and back illustration, and a fashion forecast. With many fine and small details, I spent a lot of time hand sewing.

I had been told several times by multiple people that a garment for a barbie doll would be challenging - and let me just tell you right now - it was.

Originally I chose a knit fabric which was insanely difficult to work with, especially in such a small amount. The fabric kept snagging and breaking apart where I was left to start from scratch again.

Eventually I chose to use two different fabrics, a solid red poplin and a red and white geometric shaped patterned poplin. They were much easier to sew however the project itself was still challenging at the time. With this being the first sewing project of the year, and my sewing skills only being at a beginner level sewing and hand sewing gave me a few more difficulties along the way. However this project has inspired me to work even harder on my garment that I will complete for the FCCLA Spring 2016 Conference.
