Unfortunately, not everyone can drop $1,595.00 on a Givenchy dress. However, due to the trickle down theory many retailers create an adaption or knockoff of the design. For example, I took the black cold-shoulder dress trend and found three adaptions of it at three different price points.
The first one is designer, which is the highest price point and most luxurious. In most cases it is of the highest quality and usually couture or one-of-a-kind. This is where adaptions are inspired from and where trends start.
I then found a 1 by O'2nd dress at Bloomingdale's for a significantly lower price. Of course they aren't exact, but then again it's not suppose to be. It's still an original design inspired by the runway. It is in the better category because it is of good quality and still on the pricier side for the average person.
Lastly I compared it to a dress that can be currently found at Charlotte Russe. Again, it is slightly different from the designer and better categories however they all share the same trend and concept. Of course the Charlotte Russe dress will not be the same quality as the Givenchy garment, or even the 1 by O'2nd, however it still allows their target market to stay on trend for a reasonable price.
