Seam finishes are an essential for completing a garment. These techniques are used after sewing a seam together to prevent the edges from fraying and giving it an overall clean, finished, and professional look.
The first seam finish I tried as a sample was the turn and stitched. I folded both edges of the seam allowance 1/8' and pressed, and then stitched along the edges of the fold. This method works best with light the medium weight fabrics

Similar to the turn and stitched, I chose turn and stitched together to complete my second sample. It started off the same as the previous method however instead of sewing on the fold on each side, you fold both edges 1/8", press them together so you have four layers all together, stitch along the edge, and finally press to one of the sides. This technique is a little more challenging to work with however, I believe it looks neater than the turn and stitched.

Lastly, for my third and final seam finish sample, I chose to be a bit more adventurous and do an overlock. This method is most common on mass produced clothing and accessories from everyday retail stores. It's very simple as all you have to do is straight across however you have to use an overlock machine which can be a little daunting as a beginner.
